Located at the Gateway Mall in downtown Salt Lake City, this locally owned American Bistro has been exceeding customers’ expectations since it opened in 1981. A recent article in Catalyst magazine stated ‘The Dodo has a local reputation for friendly neighborhood service.’ Although throughout the years it has been necessary to relocate, the same great food has remained untouched.
Classics such as the Smoked Turkey and Barbeque Beef sandwiches are made of in-house smoked meats, served with downright addictive barbeque sauce. Artichoke pie, homemade quiches, and gazpacho soup keep the locals returning, and the daily specials offer something new to try. Our famous made-from-scratch desserts including the Tollhouse Pie, Carmel Coffee Cake, Key Lime Pie, and Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Pie are only a few of the tasty treats made consistently be the same pastry chef for over twenty years.
The unique design of the Dodo is a combination of contemporary and industrial, with a funky flare. A mural that existed at the original restaurant has been lovingly recreated by the same artist. It depicts dodo birds socializing over drinks and listening to an all dodo jazz trio, having a fabulous evening out.
Lunch is served Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday until 10:00 p.m., and until 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday brunch features breakfast classics and specialties from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
